about alecs

Hey there, I’m Alecs!
I’m the author of three children’s storybooks — Sometimes: A Book on Inclusion (an Amazon Bestseller), When You Grow Smaller, and When Katie Shared Pink.

My personal essays, My Profile Projects, explore the lives of womxn through provocative storytelling.

My debut novel, This is Why I Need You, forthcoming May 2026 with ECW Press.

Currently, middle-grade adventure novel is out on submission.

Teaching & Scholarship
As a professor in the English departments at Concordia University and Dawson College, I teach everything from literature, professional & creative writing, grammar, and editing.

My PhD in Comparative Literature treats silence as a literary and subversive tool in stories that treat trauma, the psychological and physiological portrayal of women (as subject & object), and decolonizing modes of healing.

Professional Background
Beyond my literary pursuits, I’ve spent nearly 20 years as an ESL instructor, copywriter and brand strategist. My dual expertise in the English language as well as its application across various modes of communication has lent itself to a unique skill set that bridges storytelling and education.

Why Work With Me?

With over two decades of experience, specialize in shaping stories that captivate, inspire, and connect. As a developmental editor, copyeditor, proofreader, and ghostwriter, I’ve helped countless authors bring their visions to life, whether through novels, personal essays, or brand messaging.

Writing can sometimes feel like a solo sport, but in my world, it can be a highly collaborative experience.

My process is simple: I listen to your goals, ask the right questions, and help bring your vision to life with clarity, creativity, and focus.
